Marco Caetano graduated in 2000 in Bachelor and in 2002 graduation degree both in Radiotherapy (BSc Radiotherapy). In 2013 presented a research thesis on Study of three immobilization systems used in Radiotherapy – current and future perspective, at the conclusion of the Master’s Degree in Radiotherapy – Therapeutic Area, at the Superior School of Health Technology of Lisbon. He is Assistant teacher at Superior School of Health Technology of Lisbon since September 2014 mostly focused in Radiotherapy area of these courses where he also conducts research in this area.
Marco has worked as Coordinator of Scientific Area of Radiotherapy at the School of Health Technology of Lisbon, since February 2017. He belongs to the Radiation and Health Research Group (GIReS) since 2017, which is a multidisciplinary group, made up of teachers and researchers with different basic formations but common interests in the use of Radiation in Health. He worked in Radiotherapy between his graduation in 2000 and 2016 as a RTT. He carry out RTT duties at the Radiotherapy Service of the CONC (Centro Oncológico Dr.ª Natalia Chaves) from October 2002 until 2016. He performs functions of Simulation Technician, External Radiotherapy, Brachytherapy, Planning TC and Planning PET/CT, in the all pathologies and treatment techniques. He held the position of Technical Coordinator CONC since June 2011 to June 2013. He is the former President of the General Council of the Portuguese Radiation Therapist`s Association (2017-2020)
Isabel is Chief Radiation Therapist of the Radiotherapy Service of Hospital do Espírito Santo em Évora (HESE), Portugal. Since 2010, she is the lead of the radiation therapist team in the Radiotherapy Unit (HESE), developing strategies to optimize the Unit`s dynamic, which includes: 2 Varian DHX Linear Accelerators, OBI and RapidArc (VMAT); Acuity Simulator, TC Brightspeed GE, TC4D and Gynaecological Brachytherapy (VariSource), considering the multidisciplinary and protocol aspects inherent to the variability of emergent and current situations at the technical and organizational levels. Being also responsible in the protocol creation and management of protocols in various areas of the department.
She worked as an RTT (2006-2010) at IPOLFG, E.P.E. Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa Francisco Gentil where she practised all the roles of a RTT in diverse posts: Conventional External Radiation Therapy in the Linac GE (Saturn), as well as in External Conformational RT in the linear accelerators Elekta and Clinac DHX, with OBI image acquisition technique (CBCT) and IMRT (Radiotherapy with Modulated Intensity) technique. She also has extensive experience in Siemens Planning TC and Siemens Conventional Simulator. Prior to that (2004-2005), Isabel practised as an RTT at the CHUV – Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois Lausanne (Switzerland) Isabel Lobato graduated in Radiotherapy at the Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa, ESTeSL, in 2004.
She started in 2000, having undergone a theoretical content internship at the Hogeschool InHolland in Haarlem (Netherlands) and a practical internship in Den Haag at the Medisch Centrum Haaglanden, MCH, during her course. She also supervised students during their clinical placements in Radiation Therapy degree, ESTeSL, since 2004. Responsible for UA (Universidade de Aveiro) internships, since 2016. In 2014, she was invited to become Assistant Professor in the Radiation Therapy area, especially in gynaecological Brachytherapy and in External Beam Radiation Therapy, at ESTeSL. Invited lecturer about cancer and its main aspects, in several Healthcare Superior schools and secondary schools and she was a member of the Scientific Commissions in Radiation Therapy Congresses several times at national level. Isabel Lobato is a former Vice-President for the Portuguese Radiation Therapist`s Association (2017-2020), actively working with the radiation therapists’ community and a multidisciplinary group of healthcare professionals, like Radiation Oncologists and Physicists. As well as President of Associação Oncológica do Alentejo (AOAL), an oncological patient care association.
Filipe Moura graduated in 2003 as Bachelor of Sciences with Honours (BSc. Hons) in Radiotherapy at ESTeSL, with research project topic on Contribution for the characterization of the Radiotherapy Technologist in Portugal – Intervention and Competences. As student, in 2003, he has completed the Erasmus programme in Haarlem and The Hague, The Netherlands. During 2008, Filipe Moura has completed his Master of Sciences (MSc.) degree programme in Biophysics, with specialization in medical physics and biomedical engineering, at the Faculty of Sciences of Lisbon University, on which he has worked as a Research Assistant in Haaglanden Medical Centre, The Hague, with research topic on a-Si detector panel damage: correlating physical parameters to clinical usability.
From 2017 became a Certified Professor with specialist degree, by the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon, with the research focused on Error analysis in Radiotherapy: Impact of verification protocols on variability and treatment margins. In the clinical practice domain, Filipe Moura has worked over 16 years at Radiation Oncology Department in Hospital CUF Descobertas, Lisbon, with the main activities focused on patient care and QA and risk management, implementation and optimization of new technologies and techniques from treatment planning to treatment delivery and verification protocols, from 3D to 4D Radiotherapy. From 2003, he has started as an Assistant Teacher and Mentor at Superior School of Health Technology of Lisbon – Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa (ESTeSL), with the main educational fields related to virtual simulation and treatment planning. From 2009 to the present, Filipe Moura worked as an Associate Professor for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at ESTeSL, covering topics such as, positioning and immobilisation, methods and techniques, patient care, clinical radiotherapy, applied radiobiology, imaging for planning, virtual simulation, treatment planning and research tutoring.
Filipe Moura has delivered over 40 conference and courses presentations as an invited speaker in plenary and educational sessions both at national and international levels, with topics related to: Error analysis; off-line and on-line protocols; treatment margins; virtual simulation; image registration; contouring; 3DCRT; Intensity Modulated RT; Image Guided RT; Surface Guided RT; Stereotactic Body RT; education and training for Radiation Therapists (RTTs); competences and qualifications; advanced practice; Professional profile. Filipe Moura also took roles as reviewer for scientific journals (Reports of Practical Oncology and Radiotherapy | Radiation Oncology). Since 2006, Filipe Moura have been a member of several steering groups at Portuguese Association of Radiation Therapists (ART) for Continuous professional development, Code of Ethics, Professional regulation and national Qualifications for Radiation Therapists. From 2013 became the vice-president of ART and early 2017 became officially the President of ART
